How hypnotherapy can help with dyspraxia.

ImageBecause it is more difficult for people with dyspraxia to perform everyday tasks, it is also more tiring and, although there are some very effective strategies and systems to help in getting to grips with some of these tasks, learning and implementing a strategy can, in itself, be tiring. Sometimes, trying to cope with ordinary, everyday living can be so tiring that the more tired the person becomes, the less he or she is able to do which, in turn, can build up a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety.

It would be wonderful to have a magic wand that could just make these problems disappear but, until then, it’s necessary to find an effective means of coping, while at the same time alleviating the anxiety.

It is widely recognised that relaxation can help and there is no doubt that it is indeed very helpful as a means of coping with dyspraxia. However, it’s possible to take this a stage further and, in addition to using relaxation to reduce the anxiety, actually make a difference to people with dyspraxia by helping them to cope, strategically, with some of the problems they are facing.

Hypnotherapy involves achieving, for the client, a deep state of relaxation. This state of relaxation is perfectly natural and normal and is, in fact, experienced by all of us on a regular basis when we are just about to fall asleep but still have awareness of what is going on around us. During the session of Hypnotherapy, the client is fully aware, the whole time. The Hypnotherapist cannot take control of the client’s mind and the client must actually want the therapy to work, for it to be effective. Hypnotherapy can be viewed as a partnership between the Hypnotherapist and the client, in which the client is being helped to help him/herself.

Being hypnotised is a wonderfully relaxing, refreshing and enjoyable experience and an extremely effective method of learning to cope with some of the problems we face as well.

It is well-known that Hypnotherapy can help with giving up smoking, controlling weight, gaining confidence etc. but it can also be effective for helping concentration, relieving anxiety, learning and improving sports, musical instruments, public-speaking etc.

Hypnotherapy can be effectively applied to people with dyspraxia, for relieving some of the symptoms, and programmes have been developed that address some of the issues faced when, walking, eating (particularly in front of other people), learning to drive, passing the driving test and many more.

Hypnotherapy is a very powerful tool that can, and does, make a positive difference to many people’s lives. Even if you have dyspraxia, you could be one of those people.
